To ensure longevity of your tyres, check them regularly, looking out for and removing any stones or objects embedded in the tread. If you notice that your tyre has lumps or bulges in it – don’t hesitate – bring it into our shop in Reading, and our expert team will inspect it thoroughly for internal damage.
Your tyres must also be correctly inflated according to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations in the vehicle handbook.
If you are concerned about your tyre pressures, check your handbook or visit our friendly team in Reading, who will be happy to help.
Tyre tread depth must be above the legal minimum of 1.6mm throughout a continuous strip in the centre three quarters of the tread and around the entire tyre circumference. A tyre’s grip to a wet road deteriorates more rapidly in the second half of its tread life, meaning that wet stopping distances can dramatically lengthen. To ensure safety in wet conditions and when driving at high speeds, we advise that you check your tyre tread and buy new tyres well before they reach the legal minimum.
At Elite Wheels & Tyres Reading we recommend that motorists check tyres for any damage or changes in tread or pressure regularly and before undertaking a long journey. If you have any doubts or are unsure how to perform the required checks correctly visit us and we will inspect your tyres thoroughly.
Often, ride and performance problems attributed to faulty tyres are actually a problem with wheel alignment instead. To ensure that your issue is diagnosed and treated correctly, let our team of professionals at Elite Wheels & Tyres Reading check and adjust your wheel alignment for a smoother, safer drive.
